Earlier last week, I traded emails with Lora Cecere of AMR Research and was excited to learn about a number of upcoming reports AMR will be publishing on the Spend Management sector. She mentioned that the topics include:
1) Third generation procurement (for publication in June). "This piece ties procurement and sourcing technologies to the DDSN Maturity model and gives advice to users by category and industry on application fit."
2) In-country sourcing best practices (for publication in May) "This will be based on two quantitative surveys that we are working on that outline where companies are at in outsourcing manufacturing and supply activities."
3) What happened to supply in supply chain management? "This is an alert that looks at the trends and spending on supply and ties to supply chain management."
At Spend Matters, we're excited for these upcoming reports. Personally, I think Lora's and AMR's understanding of supply chain and Spend Management makes for very interesting -- and highly informed -- coverage of the sector.
But I'm even more excited about the general up-tick in analyst coverage of Spend Management. Later this week, we'll be highlighting some of Aberdeen's forthcoming research as well, which also looks very promising. And rumor has it that Forrester is working on some vendor analysis work as well that looks at Spend Management technology.
