I was reading Venture Wire this morning, and came across news that Rearden Commerce raised $25 million in their latest funding round. This announcement suggests a post-money valuation of at least $50 million -- a significant amount in today's market. For those who do not know Rearden Commerce, they are a vendor to watch in the services Spend Management arena. You can learn a bit more about this area by clicking here and reading a previous post on the subject. It's also worth checking out a recent Business Week article on Rearden as well.
Personally, I find Rearden's traction a sign that service oriented architectures (SOAs) are finally beginning to catch on. In the future, SOAs will enable organizations to more easily integrate unique best of breed applications and approaches to solving different Spend Management challenges. This announcement is also a sign that the on-demand Spend Management market is continuing to grow.
