I enjoyed World Trade's cover story this month on Trading With China. The article captures a number of elements on what it means to do business with the Chinese from a cultural, trade, and logistics perspective. The article also helps put Chinese business culture in perspective: "The fundamental step in doing business in China is that this is something that doesn't happen overnight. It's very difficult to have one trip, spend three days, and assume that you'll be able to set up some kind of supply chain or choose a specific vendor. We're a 200-year-plus-old country and we're doing business with a 2,000-year-plus-old country. Their time frame is longer than a couple days to a close a deal."
