Who says Spend Management should not be a topic of boardroom discussion? Not Tyco. I was thrilled to read the news that Shelly Stewart was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence and Chief Procurement Officer at his current employer. According to the announcement, "Stewart will lead Tyco's Six Sigma, Lean, Manufacturing, working capital, real estate and strategic sourcing" programs. You can learn more about Stewart's efforts at Tyco by clicking here (scroll down for post). Tyco is a great story of a global firm that relied on Spend Management to help rebuild itself, and Stewart deserves a great deal of the credit for making it happen. In my view, his promotion represents a vote of confidence for the Spend Management movement.
