One of my favorite side benefits that I've found from writing a well known blog is getting inbounds from firms that I've not heard of before. This type of interaction makes running Spend Matters a constant learning experience. Of those who reach out to me, many are new to the Spend Management ecosystem. But others clearly fall into the "best kept" secret category. I discovered one of these firms last week when I spoke to Ryder Daniels of JV Kelly Group. JV Kelly is a focused Spend Management services and solutions firm with particular expertise in the financial services arena. With 55 employees, they were certainly one of the largest "boutique" Spend Management consultancies that I was not familiar with before my call. With deep category expertise on the indirect side and a number of home-grown tools (including their own internally developed sourcing and contract management applications) they could easily serve as Spend Management general contractor to global financial services organizations. But given how large consultancies continue to ramp up their sourcing and supply chain groups, one wonders how long a firm like this will remain independent.
