As quoted in the previously mentioned Reuter's article, "The complexity thing is a real issue ... I applaud Toyota as the leader and the master," says GM purchasing head Bo Andersson. Andersson goes onto "admit that we [GM] have a lot of issues ... we have suppliers that have been angry at us for 12 years." This sounds to me like the patient has finally checked into rehab, and is coming to terms with its problems. The next step will be to start taking advice and changing the way the company looks at Spend Management.
