Two weeks back, Ariba's Justin Fogarty managed to get me on the record -- and ultimately on YouTube -- for a few questions at the Ariba Live Chicago event. I had some pretty candid observations about the event. One thing that stuck in my mind the most was how sophisticated some of the attendees and speakers were relative to others. In one case that I posted this morning, Del Monte's CPO spoke at length about integrating commodity hedging and risk management strategies with sourcing programs. I also had the chance to ask him a few questions after his presentation in the Q/A session and then following the Q/A period at the front of the room. Fascinating stuff. And proof -- based on what I learned through the interaction outside of the presentation -- that Live will always be better live than virtual.
