Nothing about iPhone 4, I promise!
The Yuan also rises.
Yuan Rises As Commerce Ministry Reassures Exporters -- "On the eve of the Group of 20 leaders' summit in Toronto, the yuan rose to a modern-era high against the U.S. dollar, while a senior Chinese trade official sought to convince exporters that a stronger currency won't damage their competitiveness and might even be positive."
Still can't say I'm not convinced that the current rate of Yuan inflation isn't a giant publicity stunt.
The Yuan isn't the only thing inflating.
In Law Schools, Grades Go Up, Just Like That -- "[Loyola Law School in LA] is retroactively inflating its grades, tacking on 0.333 to every grade recorded in the last few years. The goal is to make its students look more attractive in a competitive job market."
I actually have a lot to say about this. Mostly that we're getting horrifically lazy as a society -- half the people in MY program at DePaul don't even go to the library to research anymore. As my AP Economics teacher from high school said: "TINSTAAFL, children!! There is no such thing as a free lunch."
The world needs more octopus news.
'Psychic' octopus predicts Germany victory over England -- "An octopus in a German aquarium who is said to be psychic has predicted the country's football team will knock England out of the World Cup."
Perhaps government leaders should get octopuses to live in their offices to predict the future of the economy / what to do about the oil spill / what's going to happen with Chinese currency, etc. -- they might provide more solid outcomes than our current sorry state of affairs. Octopuses are smart, and this is one of my favorites.
That's all for today folks. Happy Friday.
