The Next Spend Matters Site: Healthcare Matters

Later this summer, Spend Matters will launch the next site in our portfolio: Healthcare Matters (HC Matters, for short). To say we're excited about targeting healthcare would be an understatement. We're totally stoked. We think the healthcare profession needs a new voice that goes beyond criticism around the way business is done today, often in spendthrift ways. It's our view that in healthcare, the best supply chain practices haven't yet been defined -- so there isn't a definitive path for IDNs, hospitals and other players in the ecosystem to follow. And it's our intent to provide some practical order by presenting the best options fairly and in a context that provokes action.

Joining me in this new venture is Tom Finn, who will serve as Lead Editor and Contributor to the site. Tom has experienced both sides of the healthcare supply chain buying ecosystem, serving as a provider (medical device) and sourcing consultant/adviser. He shares the same sense of humor and humility that the rest of the team does here. And he's in it to shake things up. I have no doubt that Tom will fit right in on the extended Spend Matters team.

It's our intent that to make HC Matters the primary publication read by sourcing professionals working in the industry (a fast-growing audience). We're envisioning the audience will comprise consultants, tool vendors, and, of course, the senior executives who need to sort it all out. We believe that HC Matters will rapidly serve as a complement to established sources of information such as Healthcare Purchasing News, which is the only non-vendor-affiliated publication we read in the market today. Our coverage, however, will be more focused on sourcing and supply chain industry news, issues and solutions rather than serving as a more general industry publication. It will also have the Spend Matters attitude that you've come to expect.

Just as Spend Matters and MetalMiner have come to dominate their respective media markets -- and Spend Matters UK/Europe is well on the way to being one of the top sites in its regional markets -- our goal is similar with HC Matters. If you're interested in getting in on the ground floor of this new site, we're looking for 1-2 sponsors at this time. Our value proposition will be simple: branding and lead generation.
