We are extremely excited about how our March conference, Commodity Edge: Sourcing Intelligence for the New Normal, is shaping up. With contributions and participation from a number of leading category analysts from the industry and commodity worlds, the agenda is coming together. I've also been working on how best to showcase technologies to help mitigate and manage commodity volatility as part of broader procurement, sourcing and supplier management strategies, and I'm excited about the progress we're making in coming up with an itinerary that includes some interactive solution demonstrations plus company case studies.
Our goal is to bring the topic alive for both those developing perspective on it for the first time and more sophisticated attendees with programs already in place. Sponsorship-wise, we'll be sharing additional announcements in the coming weeks, but to date, we're looking forward to welcoming at least five sponsors across the materials, technology and market intelligence realm. It's a good mix at this point. But we're particularly excited to have secured Triple Point Technology as a Gold Sponsor, who we recently featured in a post on MetalMiner considering the role commodity volatility is playing for procurement and supply chain organizations today.
In his commentary on MetalMiner, Michael Schwartz, Chief Marketing Officer for Triple Point, suggests that "Commodity volatility is the new normal, and more and more companies are realizing that it's critical to have a comprehensive commodity risk management strategy and technology platform in order to maintain profit margins." Further, "Volatility in the price of raw materials has had a huge impact on many industries, but manufacturing companies, especially the beverage and dry packaged goods companies, have been especially hard hit." Schwartz also added that, "They are embracing risk management strategies, including hedging in large numbers, because they've realized it can make the difference between sinking or swimming in a very competitive marketplace."
We're thrilled to welcome Triple Point not just as a sponsor of the event, but as a true thought leader in the sourcing and commodity management world. But as MetalMiner suggests, "Whether your company can take advantage of a comprehensive commodity risk management technology or not, Commodity Edge will provide your organization with a better understanding of specific market trends and -- more importantly -- actionable strategies to better manage commodity volatility."
