Today brings a post from Gert van der Heijden, executive editor of Spend Matters Netherlands. Gert will be checking in with the English-language sites weekly, providing news and translations from the Netherlands.
It has been an exciting week for us here in the Netherlands. Starting Spendmatters.nl was something I really wanted to do for a long time already, and I am very happy that the enthusiasm of Jason and Peter Smith was likewise. For me, Spend Matters was (and is) not only an outstanding blog, but also leading in the wonderful land of S&P. When I led the Sourcing & Procurement practice of Deloitte in the Netherlands, it was one of the best sources of expertise and research.
We’ve started some new ongoing columns on Spend Matters Netherlands. Every week in Meet the Leaders, we interview a senior manager in our field of expertise that is really changing our procurement paradigm. We also do a review of Apps that are related to Sourcing and Procurement. Although the Cost Of Meeting App (COMA) is broader-oriented!
One of the things I would like to draw your attention to is our survey on the maturity of the Sourcing and Procurement function, which we launch every second year: World Class Sourcing and Procurement. You can join this benchmark by clicking the previous link, and we’ll be sure to send you a copy of the results.
Spend Matters Netherlands will really add something to the Dutch procurement market. On one hand, we are really frontrunners in the Netherlands. Sustainability is one example, with companies as DSM, Philips, AkzoNobel and Unilever. On the other hand, we only have 16.8 million people over here and thus can’t exactly change the world. Especially on technology: we can really learn something from you guys and girls as all the leading Sourcing Technology come from the US at this moment.
With my co-author Hadewij van de Kamp, we will try to be as great as Spend Matters in the US and UK already are. If you do have any comments, help, or articles to share with us, please do not hesitate to contact me: firstname.lastname@example.org, or @GertvdHSourcing on Twitter.
