Less Than 40 Days to the First Spend Matters Conference!
In the past, Spend Matters has supported our sister site MetalMiner in a variety of events coverings such areas as economic and commodity outlooks, China and global trade, and Conflict Minerals. But we’ve never truly partnered to put on a show that we know would also be a perfect match for the entire Spend Matters community – until now. In early October — the 8th and 9th to be precise — we’re holding our first ever dual conference: Commodity/PROcurement EDGE.
Like last year’s Commodity Edge event, we’ll feature tons of content on commodity outlooks and forecasts. This will include an overall economic keynote by one of the best speakers we’ve heard on the topic, William Strauss, the Senior Economist and Economic Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. William is joining us again after a presentation that received outstanding feedback last year. Re-shoring expert Harry Moser will also be keynoting. Harry is truly passionate about US manufacturing, taking a quantitative approach to showcasing the value of re-shoring.
But the event will also feature an entirely new content focus from the Spend Matters side of the house. From featuring the best “former” AMR Research procurement analysts, Pierre Mitchell and Mickey North Rizza (who are now in executive roles at Spend Matters/Azul Partners and BravoSolution, respectively), to other expert commentary from yours truly and many others, the event promises to bring Spend Matters content alive, spanning:
- Core Technology Reviews – Including the latest in procurement technology and how to select the right tools for your organization from the most expert team in the space
- Forecasts and Outlooks – How will trends from commodity pricing to supplier M&A impact your procurement organization in 2014 from strategy, organizational, and related perspectives?
- Analysis and Perspective – What are the top suppliers in key technology and solution areas (shortlists, rankings, and selection approaches)? We won’t obfuscate or pander in this analysis, sharing, for example, when we think P2P tools from providers such as Coupa, Ariba/SAP, or Oracle is most appropriate in which business application.
Our goal with Commodity/PROcurement EDGE is to bring together top industry speakers and panelists to bridge the content and ideas gap between specific commodity and economic outlooks, debate the biggest issues impacting procurement organizations, and identify successful strategies to tackle the intersection of procurement and technology. We’re aiming much of the content at companies currently going through their 2014 budgeting process so that they can effectively plan for a continued volatile market environment.
Coming up, I’ll share more about the agenda, as well as some specific topics that Pierre Mitchell, Thomas Kase, and I will be leading. Spend Matters Plus/PRO individual and corporate subscribers qualify for a (rather convincing, if we do say so ourselves) conference discount (please reach out to our team if you fall into this category for more details). We look forward to seeing both old and new faces in October at Commodity/PROcurement EDGE.
While many of you have likely met our team at various events before, this is the first time the entire Spend Matters research team will be shaping and delivering a conference agenda in close coordination together. And we promise that if you’re in the business of evaluating overall procurement architecture and solutions strategy – or evaluating specific technology or solution partners – this is the one event that you won’t want to miss.
