In the procurement applications area, mobile adoption is still in its infancy. Yet a number of providers have come out with dedicated mobile or tablet- and mobile-friendlyinterfaces for their eProcurement tools. Coupa and SciQuest are among those with recent mobile enhancements this year. SAP has also built limited add-on mobile capability for SRM, though Ariba has lagged in this area. In the SAP ecosystem, another vendor to watch in the mobile area is Vrozzi, which we’ll be exploring in the coming weeks.
Clearly not wanting to stand still in the face of competition, Oracle is making new investments in this area, including solutions that will debut in the coming quarters. At OpenWorld, Oracle shared the following mobile solutions roadmap items, including examples and mock-ups of these apps running on tablet and smart phone environments (e.g., iOS):
- Oracle E-Business Suite iProcurement mobile app for browsing and shopping from item catalog
- Buyer self-service (e.g., one-click requisitioning)
- Supplier self-service
- The ability to search and view invoices, ASNs, purchase orders, receipts with alerts
Oracle is clearly investing in the mobile procurement area. However, we suspect that by this time next year, there will be others in the Oracle ecosystem offering similar (or greater) mobile capability on top of EBS modules as well.
May the best mobile Oracle EBS friendly app win!
