Procurement and B2B Disruptors: Getting Ready for Change [Plus+]
At OpenText’s analyst event this week, President & CEO Mark Barrenechea opened up the day by sharing what his organization perceives as the game changers in the enterprise market. When I saw a simple if not graphically pleasant PowerPoint slide appear with his four themes of changing workforce, digital transformation, cloud/mobile, and new technologies, I thought to myself, “Not again. Another high-level copy of many of the same themes that everyone is talking about.” But when Mark began to elaborate on the concepts, talking in an unscripted manner, he brought them down to a level that was quite fascinating. In this essay for Spend Matters Plus, I will examine these disruptors in more detail and discuss their specific implications for procurement organizations.
