West Coast Port Shutdown Near, Pfizer Buys Hospira

As port worker contract negotiation disputes continue on the West Coast, some say the terminals are just days away from a “complete gridlock.”

Pfizer is buying injectable drug maker Hospira for $15.2. Ian Read, Pfizer CEO, said the company "will benefit from a significantly enhanced product portfolio in growing markets," due to the merger.

BT Group PLC is also buying mobile operator EE for $18.98 billion. The merger links the UK’s biggest fixed-line telecommunications company with its largest mobile operator.

Japanese airbag maker Takata announced its nets losses will likely be nearly a quarter percent higher than originally expected, due to the rising costs of car recalls.
