E2open Acquired by Insight Venture Partners, Proposed Bill Would Ramp Up USDA Authority Over Meat Recalls

Private-equity firm Insight Venture Partners is acquiring supply chain software company E2open for $273 million. E2open had been looking for a buyer due to diminishing earnings.

A proposed Senate bill would make it mandatory for companies to remove unsafe meat and poultry from the supply chain. If passed, the Meat and Poultry Recall Notification Act would give the US Department of Agriculture authority to issue a mandatory recall – instead of only being able to “recommend” a recall.

US auto exports reached about 2.1 million in 2014 - a new record. Demand in the Middle East and Asia is strongest for US-manufactured cars and SUVs.

Kodak will supply some of the largest Hollywood production companies with movie film - keeping the ailing company in the green.
