Total spending is expected reach $18.9 billion, according to a survey from the National Retail Federation. Where are people buying these Valentine’s Day gifts? Mostly in-store, according to this source. Ninety-one percent of the holiday purchases take place in person, 22 percent are done online. Also, consumers are not just spending money on their human significant other, but also buying V-day gifts for their pets. One in 5 dog and cat owners say they will buy a gift for their pet, spending about $5.28 on average for the gift.
