Audi Expands Mexico Manufacturing Plans, GM Awards Top Suppliers

Audi plans to begin expanding production in Mexico next year. The automaker will start making its second model of the Q5 sport-utility vehicle for the North American market.

General Motors announced the winners of its top supplier awards last week. The companies from around the globe “are the best-of-the-best suppliers,” said Steve Keifer, GM vice president of global purchasing and supply chain.

Volkswagen recently launched it’s “FAST” initiative (Future Automotive Supply Tracks), which aims “to prioritize investments and make efficient use of resources in closer cooperation with suppliers.”

Labor market conditions took a dive in February. The Federal Reserve’s labor index dropped to 4 from the 4.8 in January.
