Iowa is the largest egg producer in the country, supplying about 1 in every 5 eggs consumed in the US. The flu virus has also impacted turkey supplies. Hormel Food Corp. said 17 of its turkey flocks are infected with the H5N2 virus. Ice cream maker Blue Bell is recalling all of its ice cream, frozen yogurt and other frozen products due to the threat the items could be infected with listeria. So far, 3 deaths and 5 cases of listeriosis have been connected to the company’s products. And, in other news, Exxon Mobil Corp. said it expects the oil and gas industry to remain where it is now over the next few years, with oil prices remaining low.
