The index dropped 1.7% so far in June to reach 55 points, down from the 56.7 in May. An egg supplier for Costco is under scrutiny after an undercover investigation found “unsanitary” and “inhumane” conditions at the farm. The Human Society of the United States conducted the investigation of Hillandale Farms, located in Pennsylvania and found hens in cramped cages with dead birds.
