Spend Matters 50/50: Browz – A Provider to Watch in 2015

Spend Matters Almanac

Founded in 2001, Salt Lake City-based Browz addresses corporate supplier management needs, particularly in the contractor qualification and policy compliance areas. The offering also addresses at least partial vendor onboarding.

The main business case driving clients and suppliers to Browz is to attain onsite readiness qualification – capturing the documents and sign offs required to ensure that a supplier has completed or otherwise agreed to the various requirements associated with workplace safety awareness and similar employee training programs.

Browz is active in 17 industries, including utilities, oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries where contractors need to come onsite to do their work – obviously all industries where the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other safety compliance requirements, such as those stipulated by insurance underwriters, are critical.

The main solution is supplier funded in a straightforward way in that a supplier pays Browz a fairly modest fee and Browz validates data the supplier has provided (an audit) and issues a stamp of approval good for a year, which is valid across Browz’ network of clients. This cuts down on each supplier’s need to maintain current status with their clients and delivers economies of scale for both sides of the negotiation table. Browz also assesses workforce compliance at the employee level.

Browz’s solution is well worth looking at for any company needing contractor onsite readiness and workforce compliance assessments. The company has offices in the US, Europe and in Australia and is available in several languages.
