Afternoon Coffee: Amazon the Top Spot for Holiday Shopping, Starts Black Friday Deals Tomorrow Kaitlyn McAvoy - November 19, 2015 12:26 PM | Categories: Afternoon Coffee | Tags: General News E-commerce is significantly ramping up, but traditional retailers’ efforts to improve the online shopping experience may be made in vain. A new poll by Reuters and Ipsos shows 51% of consumers plan to do most of their holiday shopping on Amazon.com. Good news for those Amazon customers: Amazon.com is also starting to offer its Black Friday deals a week early, beginning tomorrow on Nov. 20. The U.S. Leading Economic Index rose in October by 0.6% to reach 124.1, which was more than economists were predicting and reverses the downward movement the index experienced in September. New truck orders were down 44% in October compared to the same month in 2014. The news is especially bad considering October can set the pace for the year for the freight transportation industry as it is the month when manufacturers typically release next-year truck models and fleets.
