It bought a 25% stake in the company in 2014, but is expected to purchase the rest in the next three months. California authorities have rejected Volkswagen's proposed plans to handle the recall of its cars with faulty emission equipment. The California Air Resources Board said the VW recall plans are “incomplete, substantially deficient and fall far short of meeting the legal requirement.” New “digital watermarking” technology on product packaging may be able to speed up supply chains and point-of-sale transactions, some are saying. The technology, called DW Codes, are invisible to the human eye, but are actually printed all over a product’s package so a scanner can pick it up more easily than a bar code in a specific location. U.S. crude oil inventories increased in the last week, according to data from the Energy Information Administration. This kept oil prices low today around $30 a barrel.
