Afternoon Coffee: Target Hires Former Amazon Supply Chain Leader, US Exports LNG for First Time

Target has hired Arthur Valdez, formerly of Amazon, as new executive vice president, chief supply chain and logistics officer. At Amazon, Valdez held leadership positions for the e-commerce company’s global and domestic supply chain. Now at Target, he will lead the company’s efforts to transform its supply chain.

The U.S. exported its first shipment of natural gas last week. The shipment of liquefied natural gas from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana is set for Brazil.

Railcars are now being used to store excess crude oil in the U.S. as traditional storage tanks struggle to hold swelling U.S. oil inventories. However, while this “rolling storage” makes use of empty railcars, railroads could be held responsible for any leaks or other mishaps.
