Spend Matters’ Founder and Head of Strategy Jason Busch was recently featured on an Art of Procurement podcast, where he shared his insights on our recent Global Procurement Tech Summit put on in partnership earlier this month with the Institute for Supply Management. Art of Procurement host Philip Ideson was at the conference and interviewed Jason on how the tech-focused event went.
In the podcast episode, “#ProcureTech 2016 Wrap Up: Is Technology Disrupting the Procurement Delivery Model?,” Busch talks about why Spend Matters was motivated to put on the conference and shares his expert opinion on the changes occurring in the procurement technology space.
Some key discussion points during the podcast:
- How B2C is impacting procurement technology: “If we look at the migration of what’s happened in the consumer world — we say consumer, but not not just driven by commerce, but driven by collaboration, social, mobile, the expectation of real-time information on things — it is slowly making its way into procurement, for sure,” Jason told Ideson.
- Why it’s important for procurement organizations to truly assess their needs: What does the organization really need in a procurement technology solution? Busch says it is important to take a step back and ask the right questions, before diving into a specific solution adoption.
- It’s a “converging” world out there: Are companies adopting true procurement platforms or suites? Or are they looking at standalone, individual solutions? According to Jason, software companies are increasingly becoming managed services companies.
