Afternoon Coffee: Federal Contractors May Need to Report Greenhouse Gas Emission Data, Google Opening Autonomous Vehicle Center Near Detroit

The Obama administration is considering asking federal contractors to report greenhouse gas emissions data. A proposed new rule would require contractors to share the amount of greenhouse gas they emit, their emission reduction goals and targets as well as how they think climate change may threaten their business.

Google will open a self-driving technology development center in Novi, Michigan, near Detroit, as part of its push to build autonomous cars. Google is also trying to partner with car companies to build its autonomous vehicles.

FedEx’s acquisition of TNT Express was made official this week. FedEx acquired the Netherlands-based mail and courier services company for $4.8 billion. announced this week it would use Amazon Web Services’ cloud solution to expand into Canada and Australia. The deal is worth $400 million over four years.
