Afternoon Coffee: Honeywell in Talks to Buy JDA Software, Companies Take Longer to Pay Suppliers in 2015

Honeywell International Inc may possibly acquire supply chain management solutions company JDA Software Group. Honeywell is reportedly in talks about a possible acquisition, shortly after it bought U.S. distribution systems and logistics company Intelligrated Inc.

A new analysis of the 1,000 largest U.S. companies found days payable outstanding (DPO), a measure in days of how long it takes a firm on average to pay suppliers, increased about 5% in 2015. DPO reached 50.1 days across the industries, up from an average of 47.7 days in 2014.

U.S. wholesale inventories rose 0.3% in June, following a 0.2% gain in May, according to the Commerce Department. Inventories of durable goods, including autos and machinery, was down 0.3% in June, but non-durable good inventories were up 1.1%.

U.S. productivity was also down for second quarter of 2016, falling at a 0.5% annualized rate between April and June. It is the third straight quarter of productivity declines.
