Announcing the 2017 Editorial Calendar (Plus: Best Ofs!)

Dear Spend Matters Readers:

So much has happened in 2016.

And while that’s a phrase that is routinely written describing every year at about this time in the annual calendar, it really holds true for the past 360 days or so.

Trump. Cubs. Brexit. Syria. Refugee crises. Panama Papers. Pokemon Go. (This is fun...we could keep going.)

But so much has happened in the world of procurement and supply chain in 2016 as well, and rather than outline it all here, our team has been working to bring you the Best of Spend Matters in 2016. Look for Best of Spend Matters posts all through next week (and read on to find out how we’re determining these).

We’ll also be looking at a few 2017 Predictions, so keep an eye on those as well.

Speaking of next year, perhaps our biggest announcement is that Spend Matters has finalized an exciting 2017 Editorial Calendar. Our team is dedicated to “deliver content that covers procurement technology and addresses the challenges of the modern CPO,” in four technology tracks and two CPO/procurement-practitioner-specific tracks, for every month.

The four technology tracks are:

  • Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
  • Contingent Workforce and Business Services Procurement
  • Risk Management & Compliance

The two CPO/practitioner-specific tracks are:

  • Procurement as a Service
  • Intelligent Procurement

Each track will feature articles, webinars and white paper and case study releases.

For a bit of an accompanying visual, here’s the look of the calendar for the next three months on our parent company’s site:

Now, you may be saying, “Spend Matters already covers all of this!”

That’s true... but now, our analyst and editorial teams aim to do it in a much more codified, and ideally more valuable, fashion. This way, procurement practitioners, technology solution providers and clients (in essence, our entire audience) will know what to expect when, and be able to plan — and do — their jobs better.

Will it be perfect right away? Perhaps not. Will there be opportunities to learn how and what to deliver to our readers in a more effective manner? Surely. Will we encourage readers to tell us what’s working and what’s not? Of course. In any case, now’s the time to get on the ride together.

Best Ofs + 2017 Editorial Calendar = ?

So what do our Best of Spend Matters 2016 series and our new 2017 editorial calendar have in common?

We’ve taken each of the six new calendar tracks and will feature a Best Of 2016 for each of them, highlighting the top posts from each coverage area and what makes them awesome.

Happy holidays, and here’s to a healthy 2017!
