Afternoon Coffee: Randstad Launches New Digital Hub, McDonald’s to Cut 36% of Emissions by 2030

Randstad Sourceright announced Thursday a new platform that showcases its HR and analytics technologies, according to a press release. Called Talent Velocity, the offering brings together technologies such as CRM, chatbots for candidate interviewing and recruitment, automated reference checking and workforce reporting in a single platform.

Greening McDonald’s 

McDonald’s announced Tuesday an ambitious plan to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 36% by 2030, Fortune reports. Changes to lighting, kitchen equipment and packaging will drive the initial sustainability efforts. But in the longer term, the fast food giant will also need to reform its beef production practices, as red meat takes a considerable amount of energy to farm.

Hot Cryptocurrency 

The cryptocurrency craze took a spicy turn this week. As Bloomberg reports, a new offering called Agrocoin is giving investors a chance to bet on some of the world’s hottest peppers. Each 500 peso ($27) Agrocoin is backed by a square meter of hydroponic habanero chili production in Quintana Roo state, according to the report.

Eurozone Growth 

Business activity in the eurozone slowed for the second straight month in February, the Wall Street Journal reports. Concerns about a potential trade conflict with the U.S. weighed on eurozone businesses, which reported lower industrial output in January.
