Afternoon Coffee: Tipalti Integrates with QuickBooks Online, Uber Works Is in the Works

The global payables automation platform Tipalti announced today that its supplier payments automation solution has integrated with Intuit QuickBooks Online, a provider of financial management software. Tipalti CEO Chen Amit said in a press release that the integration will save people time on payables, noting that it will allow “businesses to focus more on strategic efforts that enable the business to grow … and less on mundane processes.”

Uber Works to Offer On-Demand Staffing

Uber Works is the latest venture by the tech firm known for its ride-hailing system and network of drivers. It is testing an on-demand staffing business, the Financial Times reported recently. Tests have been done in Los Angeles and Chicago, but it’s not clear when the service will launch, the Times reported.

Killing Mars Saudi Business Event

The recent killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is having an effect on Saudi Arabia’s top business gathering, the Future Investment Initiative, The Wall Street Journal reports. Many foreign investors and executives pulled out of this week’s  gathering over the kingdom’s alleged role in Khashoggi’s killing at the Saudi embassy in Turkey, the Journal reports.

Stocks Take Another Hit

And finally, an economic update: Stocks fell Tuesday on global trade concerns and as investors were disappointed by reports from Caterpillar and 3M, CNBC reports.
