Field Nation ONE is launched, Walmart supply chain costs, Hub Group adds real-time ETAs

The workforce management provider Field Nation has released its latest solution to manage full-time workers, freelancers, contractors and vendors, the company said. Field Nation ONE is a single platform meant to help business simplify workforce management.

"As a leader of freelance marketplace solutions, we're proud to introduce an innovative platform that helps companies streamline everyday tasks and decrease overhead costs," said Mynul Khan, founder and CEO of Field Nation, in a press release.

Investments in supply chain cut into Walmart Q1 profit

It was Walmart’s best Q1 results in nine years, achieving 3.4% growth with total revenue climbing 1% to $123.9 billion, according to Retail TouchPoints. But major investments in building its supply chain, as well the increase in lower margin online sales, continued to put profits under pressure, the site said.

Hub Group's new shipment initiative

Supply chain solutions provider Hub Group has launched end-to-end visibility with real-time shipment-level ETAs, Logistics Management reports.

Hub Group CEO David Yeager said: “We’re combining our nearly 50 years of supply chain solutions experience with emerging technology to raise the stakes on what a sophisticated supply chain should look like, delivering the real-time, trusted ETA data essential for our customers’ success.”

Housing market picks up marginally

The U.S. Commerce Department has reported that housing starts rose 5.7% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.235 million units in April, which was more than market expectations, Reuters reports. This was fueled by gains in the construction of both single- and multi-family housing units. Land and labor shortages, however, continue to hamper the ability to construct more lower-priced houses.

Health Carousel acquires Lucidity

The Cincinnati-area healthcare staffing firm Health Carousel announced this week that it acquired Lucidity, a North Carolina firm whose digital platform connects doctors to people who fill part-time or temporary roles, according to the Cincinnati Business Courier. The platform has artificial intelligence (AI) to help medical practices make better staffing decisions, the Courier reports. Hyundai Construction Equipment gets U.S. procurement contract

Sourcewell, a national cooperative representing over 50,000 US and Canadian government, education and nonprofits, has awarded the contract for procuring construction equipment and accessories to Hyundai Construction Equipment, according to Equipment Journal. Under the heavy construction equipment contract, Hyundai facilitates transactions with Sourcewell members through its North American network of authorized Hyundai Construction Equipment dealerships.
