This post is part of our 2016 Year-End Procurement Tech Review, in which we offer procurement practitioners a bird’s-eye view of some key vendors and their solutions in select categories. Founded as Co-eXprise in 2004 with a goal of building a new type of direct sourcing solution not yet available in the North American marketplace, Directworks has since evolved. MRO as a service

This post is part of our 2016 Year-End Procurement Tech Review, in which we offer procurement practitioners a bird’s-eye view of some key vendors and their solutions in select categories. This is the last week of this series, and today we’re highlighting a company in the supplier risk management field.

Avetta, which recently rebranded from its original name, PICS Auditing, has grown considerably since its founding over a decade ago. But while now the company can enable organizations to tackle broader supplier management and risk management initiatives, at its core it still solves a problem that many companies in industries relying heavily on contractors have: proper contractor vetting, credentialing and enablement.

SciQuest

This post is part of our 2016 Year-End Procurement Tech Review, in which we offer procurement practitioners a bird’s-eye view of some key vendors and their solutions in select categories. This is the last week of this series, and today we’re highlighting a company in the procurement technology space.

While it is possible to label SciQuest as a procurement technology suite vendor (source-to-pay, source-to-contract and procure-to-pay), the reality is that SciQuest competes in multiple, infrequently overlapping segments of the procurement technology market. To date, SciQuest has generally had different sets of customers, prospects and different competitors for its core P2P product. This stands in contrast to many of its peers, which have generally chosen to focus on fewer market segments rather than more.

This is the last week of this series, and today we are highlighting a company in the services procurement field.

DCR Workforce is a difficult provider to paint into a box. On one level, DCR provides a next generation vendor management system (VMS) solution, more than capable of holding its own against some of the better known providers in the sector on a functional basis addressing basic contingent workforce requirements. But on another level, it delivers much more — a statement of work (SOW) capability that is fundamentally different than other VMS providers in approach and capability; a powerful analytics platform for managing broader services procurement activities; and even a freelancer management system (FMS) and supplier network that offers new ways to manage freelancers and contractors.

The amount of time it took Per Angusta founder Pierre Laprée to consolidate, normalize and analyze data in managing his sourcing pipeline, projects and savings projections on a daily basis in Excel was enormous — and the end result was not always reliable. Finding no solution in the market designed specifically for sourcing pipeline management, he decided to form Per Angusta and build one.

The founders of Scout RFP launched their firm with the goal of making e-sourcing solutions accessible and less cumbersome. Since the launch of a basic but simple-to-use RFP solution in 2013, the Scout RFP team has quickly built out the core of an e-sourcing suite, adding e-auction, savings tracking and supplier (information) management. Flash-forward only three years, and Scout RFP today positions its solid mid-market solution against the leading best-of-breed vendors in this segment of the market, with capabilities even larger firms may want to use.

SirionLabs: The Technology Provider for Post-Signature Contract Management — Year-End Tech Review

This post is part of our 2016 Year-End Procurement Tech Review series, in which we offer procurement practitioners a bird’s-eye view of some key vendors and their solutions in select categories. This week, we’re highlighting companies in the sourcing (including e-sourcing) and supplier management spaces.

As businesses, we are increasingly buying outcomes rather than widgets or labor. Yet the general market for procurement technology still reflects a world in which we source, procure, contract and manage supplier relationships based on models that track to underlying SKUs or hourly bill rates rather than partnership-based outcomes. SirionLabs is one of the few technology providers working to change this. It has built a suite focused on managing all aspects of complex supplier relationships after a negotiation has taken place, starting with contract authoring and proceeding to steady-state performance, relationship and risk management.
