Autumn Procurement Conferences – Coupa Inspire Hits Paris

October is the month for procurement solution providers to hold their customer events, so continuing our series featuring some of the upcoming events, today we are looking at Coupa Inspire.

If you haven’t heard of Coupa, you have been living under a procurement rock for the past few years, as the spend management software firm has grown at an impressive rate, and expanded successfully out from its US roots to become a real force in Europe and further afield. Starting with largely P2P focused technology (catalogues, travel management, invoicing), the product now covers a range of other capabilities including sourcing and spend analysis. Ease of use, a regularly upgraded single cloud platform and rapid implementation cycles are some of the differentiators that have driven the growth.

So we suspect there will be plenty of success stories from Coupa’s own senior executives and customers at the event, held on October 22nd at the lovely Westin Paris - Vendôme . It looks like an excellent hotel; and accommodation is available for a mere €295 per single room! (My research suggests there are cheaper places very close for those of us on a budget). The following day, the 23rd, is devoted to customer training, so many of the delegates will be staying for that, I imagine.

Our publishing director Nancy Clinton attended last year’s Coupa event in London and was very impressed by the whole experience (here's the review), so we can expect a professional and lively event. On the 22nd, in the morning we have Magnus Bergfors, Research Director, Gartner, and the always inspirational Rob Bernshteyn, the CEO of Coupa. Breakout sessions in the afternoon feature a range of customer stories, including from our old friend (sorry, not so old friend) Amber Ritson, Chief Procurement Officer of Cofely UK - GDF Suez Group.

With some organisations, the future plans part of these events is not the most thrilling, but the pace of Coupa’s development means that with this firm, it is genuinely exciting and interesting to hear where they are going next. Competitors will be just as interested in this, although I don’t suppose they get a ticket (even if they offer to pay)!

Finally, I love the justification letter that Coupa provide here – this is such as great idea. It is a template that delegates can use to get approval to go to the event, laying out the benefits of attending. It starts;

“I’d like approval to attend the Coupa INSPIRE EMEA conference on 22nd October in Paris. With 1 day of in-depth learning and collaboration — product and technology sessions, customer panels, and hands-on demos — and 1 day training. Coupa INSPIRE will bring together Coupa experts and users for this once-a-year opportunity...”

We will see you in Paris!
