Chicago conference to address managing commodities and commodity risk

Chicago in the Springtime! What could be nicer?

How about Chicago plus an insightful conference that will help you manage spend in the volatile and often critical area of commodities - from steel to cotton, cocoa to platinum.

My colleagues at Spend Matters US and Metal Miner (the world's top blog in the metals sector) are hosting a commodity risk conference in Chicago on March 19/20, featuring:

  • Key manufacturing category and macroeconomic outlooks
  • Tactical raw material sourcing strategies
  • Legislative overview of policies that will impact global sourcing organizations
  • Best technologies, tools, and strategies to manage volatile commodity spend

Here's their description of the aims of the event:

"Leading manufacturing organizations are actively looking for ways to better manage commodity volatility – not only through a better understanding of underlying market trends, but also through analysis of the specific drivers that most closely correlate to price trends. Participants will also learn ways to manage the P&L, create longer forward-price visibility, reduce risk and ensure ongoing continuity of supply.

In addition, the political landscape has created additional uncertainty around energy costs, global trade, stimulus programs as well as conflict minerals, suggesting the procurement function must transform into a global intelligence center".

They've got some great speakers lined up, and if you can't make it, but perhaps have US based colleagues who may be interested, please do tell them about it. More details are here, and finally, here's a video with more information.
