Down the Procurement Luxury Dubai Hotel with Tejari, Sievo, Grundfos, Gulf News and Wolf Alice

IMAG0497Here are some of our lovely delegates at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Hotel for our Real World Sourcing session with Tejari this week. Both that session and the following day in Abu Dhabi were were well attended, and thanks to everyone who came along. In Abu Dhabi we presented on Evaluating Bids and Tenders, a session we have run in London and Dubai previously. But we broke new ground with Dubai getting its first World Premier of the Real World Series - "New Approaches to Negotiation". Even if a couple of my behavioural Daniel Kahneman type experiments did not quite come off (to say the least), it seemed to go down well, and we look forward to that same session in London on June 3rd.

Thanks also to everyone who participated in the webinar yesterday with Sievo and Grundfos, a case study around tracking and measuring savings. This is such an important topic for procurement, and CPOs really should look hard at how this is done in their organisations. We'll have the webinar available soon if you missed it live, and by the way I'm also looking to update our seminal article, "10 Ways to Fiddle Your Procurement Savings Figures" shortly!

The Gulf News has far more insightful comments on global business and politics than any UK newspaper, obsessed as we are in the UK by parochial matters. And coming up to the UK election, none of our political parties are talking about the Russian threat, the situation in the Middle East, how the UK can compete globally with emerging economies, how we create high-value jobs in business sectors with strong prospects for growth ... etc. But spend half an hour reading the Gulf News and it will re-calibrate your thinking somewhat around the medium and long-term issues that our politicians should be thinking about.

Wolf Alice are a young British rock band who have their debut and much anticipated album out shortly - this year's Catfish and the Bottlemen type breakthrough, we hope. They're also playing Reading Festival, as they did last year, and we're looking forward to that. Yes, I'm a sucker for female vocalists on top of loud guitars every time! Here is their latest "single" from the album.
