Down the Procurement Pub with Xmas parties, Science Warehouse, iValua and the Dandy Warhols

Here’s a picture of the wildly extravagant Spend Matters Europe Christmas Party! Yes, Nancy Clinton, our esteemed Editor, and I went to the Belgian Arms in Holyport for lunch and as you can see, she really pushed the boat out with her... cup of tea. I was the proverbial Wild One however with two halves of Brakspears 3.7% Bitter. Well, we were both driving, she had to pick up the kids, I had some more writing to do... it’s an exciting life being a media mogul you know.

Talking of festivities, we heard some interesting stories this week – your task is to guess the procurement “solutions provider” in each case. So which firm has got one of the top clowns and fire-eaters in the UK performing at their Xmas event ? What might that do to their booming valuation if their European human assets go up in a huge conflagration, we wonder?

And a genuinely sad story. Which firm’s exotic Christmas trip ended up going no further than Luton airport after an air traffic controller’s strike tragically nixed their planned foreign escapade? But we also hear that they hit the hotspots of London – including Brick Lane’s finest restaurant - as some compensation for missing out on their Italian excitement!

More seriously, Science Warehouse has launched its annual Procurement Trends Survey 2015 in association with eWorld Purchasing and Supply. The worldwide survey is in its 4th year and currently open to all procurement professionals to take part and reveal what 2015 may hold. Last year, over 260 organisations from the public and private sectors took part. And one lucky participant will receive a iPad Air in a free draw. Complete the survey here.

And spend management software firm, iValua, announced the publication “of the results of its second International Procurement Executives survey, aimed at determining the status of the relations between Procurement and other Business Departments within big multinational companies”. We’ll take a look at that ourselves shortly but in the meantime you can get hold of a copy here.

Here is the Dandy Warhols doing Little Drummer Boy with great panache. It is one of the tracks on my favourite Christmas collection ever, XFM It's a Cool, Cool Christmas. If you see it (at a reasonable price), buy it. Happy Christmas!
