Last week’s highlights from Spend Matters US

Hope you enjoyed your European Christmas celebrations; here are some of the highlights from the US in the days leading up to Christmas.

Jason has been providing some serious analysis of the acquisition of AECSoft by SciQuest last week.  Here he looks at the relationships between software and providing content (AECSoft being a provider largely of supplier diversity content and tools).  Are content and software flotsam and jetsam or oil and water?

And here he looks at the acquisition and what it might mean for the firms involved and their customers.  Supply chain risk management is becoming a bigger and bigger issue; and it appears that the UK and Europe may well be ahead of the US in terms of looking at CSR issues in procurement.  Yet I'm not sure you have specialist vendors like AECSoft on your side of the Atlantic? A quirky vendor finds a new home with SciQuest and SciQuest acquires AECSoft

And finally, here's guest writer and supplier performance expert Sherry Gordon with some thoughts on how you monitor and assess major suppliers; do you look at them in their totality, by product / category, or by their production location?  Is the whole the sum of its parts?
