Procurement news from Spend Matters US – Weekly round-up

New Research: A Foundational Look at P2P Technologies -- This is the first paper in our 2011 Compass Research Series:P2P and Working Capital -- Bridging Technology & Collaboration to Drive Savings and Cash. We wanted to explore the market state of P2P platforms from basic, hosted e-procurement capabilities to broader deployments combining both best-of-breed and ERP technology components. And we wanted to dumb down a high-level analysis to the most basic level given the potential for serious complexity in more detailed analyses. Download the paper for free!

We’re liking what Coupa’s been up to. Last week, Coupa released their latest "cloud" Spend Management solution. Jason was fortunate enough to spend a couple of hours digging into the product a few weeks back with a number of members of the Coupa team, including both the technical and product management leaders behind the release. See Part 2 here, and look for further coverage next week.

Supply Risk -- Talking Points for Your Next Management Meeting (Part 1) -- Risk has especially been on my mind of late owing to my participation in ISM's risk track at the annual supply management event, but it's clear that not all the best thinking on the topic is coming from this side of the Atlantic. Rather than summarize the interview, I thought I'd take a few key quotations from it and encourage readers who are interested to digest the whole piece in more detail. Part 2.

Using Supplier Management Tools to Drive Supplier Compliance -- CSR and Beyond: Our experience suggests that when it comes to supplier management and CSR programs, organizations often require a range of team members to collaborate on a common platform or environment, depending on the specific initiatives. Part 2.

Finally, though I regularly read Peter’s music reviews of the modern (we literally can’t stop listening to the new Fleet Foxes), I thought I’d take it back today to this wonderful, wonderful photo essay from a Life Magazine article of Ravi Shankar having a jam session with Dizzy Gillespie in 1957. If I could go back in time, I’d either go here or to Frank Sinatra recording live with Count Basie at The Sands in Las Vegas.
