More on our “real world sourcing” series with BravoSolution

We told you last week about the exciting BravoSolution / Spend Matters “Real World Sourcing” series of briefing events this year. The first is on February 29th in London and the topic is “Taking on a New Category”.

There’ll be presentation material from me, time for discussion and questions, and a VERY GOOD LUNCH.  (Am I emphasising that too much)? All for the nominal price of £39, or just £199 if you book for the whole series of six sessions, spread through 2012. Other sessions will look at spend analysis, e-auctions and a range of other relevant topics.

We’ve been working on the material, and we plan to focus on some key themes for successful category management.

For instance, it’s impossible to over-estimate the importance of getting internal stakeholders on board when you’re moving in to a new category, so we’ll have some tips and tools you can use to help in that regard. That includes an original and interesting analysis you can use to look at the objectives that sit behind different stakeholders’ views of the category.

We know you’re all familiar with the Kraljic Matrix, so we’ll be explaining why and where it doesn’t work in the context of how you look at the market(s) in which you’re working.  And we’ll look at the approaches that can bring quick wins, depending again on the nature of the market.

Anyway, that’s just a sample of the sort of topic we’re including – there should be a lot of content in a pretty short period of time, and plenty of ideas you can take away and use.

And if you are a senior CPO who has moved onwards and upwards beyond Category Management, why not get one (or more) of your staff to attend? I’m sure they – and you – won’t regret it.
