Spend Matters 50/50: Proxima – A Provider to Know in 2015

100 companies - 100 days

We announced here and here our two (not ranked) lists: Spend Matters 50 To Know and 50 To Watch firms for 2015/2016. In the first case, this is our view of the 50 solution provider type organisations in the procurement industry that every senior procurement leader should be aware of and understand. The 50 To Watch are the up-and-coming firms  - those with interesting and relatively new solutions for our market. The 50 To Know are the key organisations in our industry that procurement executives need to have on their radar.

Having announced the lists, our US colleagues are now featuring each of the 100 firms in turn with an article giving an overview of each, with some headline Spend Matters thoughts on them. So on this site we will be giving you a brief extract of the US article, plus adding our own comments where we have anything useful to add from a European perspective.

Here is what the US site had to say about Proxima (reviewed by our own Peter Smith):

"Proxima has been a beacon of stability in a changing world of procurement outsourcing service providers. It does not follow the acquisition strategy of Accenture or the various changes in approach we have seen from Xchanging, 2 of its major competitors – rather, a steady, organic growth over the past 20 years. That has come internationally, with particular strength, and offices, in the UK and US. There are few publicly available figures, but the firm employs around 500 staff, we estimate. Some clients outsource all indirect spend to the firm; in other cases, Proxima will take on just 1 or 2 categories, if that is required ...

In recent times, Proxima has started to offer more in the way of procurement consulting services, as well as outsourcing. The firm has also produced some very strong and interesting content over the years ..."

You can read the review in full here on our US site - as we say, Peter wrote this, so we won't add too much in the way of our specific "European" views here. Suffice to say, Proxima are very strong in the UK and some other parts of Europe, as well as in the US, and are a firm to consider on your short list for pretty much any indirect procurement outsourcing requirements.
