Spend Management Success in Wales

The Welsh Procurement Initiative "has announced record savings for 2004" according to its second annual report.

"Savings were secured through the collaborative purchasing of car hire, recruitment advertising and photocopier supplies. Increased usage of the Welsh Purchasing Card, launched in 2002, also played a central role by achieving savings of £0.5 million."

"The first all-Wales e-auction for the procurement of stationery and office supplies, and the second for PC’s, Laptops and Printers also contributed to total savings figure, achieving reductions in cost of approximately 57 per cent and 33 per cent respectively."
