Fall Event: The CPO’s Summit …

I recently heard that Aberdeen would be holding its first ever -- at least as I can recall -- conference which is appropriately titled and themed: The CPO's Summit. Personally, I think that it's great news that an analyst firm is devoting an entire event to the subject of Spend Management. Frequent readers of Spend Matters will note we think very highly not only of Aberdeen's Spend Management written research, but also of their commitment to the Spend Management sector overall.

Perhaps Aberdeen's event will force AMR Research’s hand to provide more Spend Management content at its own events (which tend to be dominated by supply chain and operations analysis, with little emphasis on business-driven Spend Management issues). Recently, AMR stepped up to the Spend Management plate from a written coverage standpoint, bringing Mark Hillman and Mickey North Rizza on board to complement Lora Cecere's analysis of Spend Management and supply chain issues. These hires are great news. But now, let's hope AMR also follows Aberdeen’s lead from a conference perspective, offering a similarly focused Spend Management event in 2006. They now have the horsepower and Spend Management depth to pull it off. But what is AMR's true commitment? Only time will tell ...
