Spend Matters Policy Corner: US / China Relations

For anyone who wants a good overview about the complexities of current US / China economic, trade, and political relations, it's worth spending a few minutes to read Newsweek’s latest analysis on the subject. All organizations that are currently sourcing from China (or debating the concept), owe it to themselves to understand all of the macroeconomic and political risk factors involved. This is a case where supply risk management analysis needs to go far beyond investigating supplier health and viability on the company level. Fortunately, I think that both countries have much more to lose than gain by escalating trade or political confrontations in the coming years, so I believe that we will continue to see very much of the same, despite occasionally heated rhetoric from politicians in both countries.
