A Fate Worse than SarbOx

Quick, what's the worst thing that can happen to you in China if you're an executive or government official accused of fraud, bribery or deceptive practices? If you guessed the Chinese equivalent of Club Fed, you'd be about as far off the mark as you could get. That's right. The Chinese prefer to parade their most egregious white collar criminals in front of the firing squad rather than making them do a few years in a minimum security set-up. According to China Daily, "Zheng Xiaoyu, former director of China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), was sentenced to death by a Beijing court Tuesday morning. Zheng, 63, was convicted of taking bribes and dereliction of duty ... The death sentence was appropriate, according to the court, given the huge bribes involved and the great damage inflicted on the country and the public by Zheng's dereliction of duty".
