Conference Season Hits Full Steam — SAP Sapphire, ISM, Beeline and BravoSolution

It's that time of year again -- conference season. Of course my body does not like to cooperate when the travel begins in earnest (ruptured ear drum right before hopping on a flight this past weekend), but the suspense and excitement of shuttling back and forth between ISM and Sapphire almost made up for it. (Almost.) I'll be speaking at both events this week and also facilitating a panel at ISM. Joining me of the events will be the newest member of the team, Thomas Kase. I'll also be syncing up with supplier performance management pro Sherry Gordon, with whom I'm co-presenting our latest analysis of the supply risk and supplier management technology market on Wednesday from 9-10am at ISM (I know, they always give us the best spots on the very last morning of the very last day; I suppose it could be worse, but at least they're including us). The specific title of our talk is: "Core Risk & Performance Technologies." Whether you're looking for a primer on the subject or want to dig deeper into the latest and greatest in this area, exploring platform technologies and what they make possible, join us.

I'm also facilitating a panel discussion at ISM on Tuesday morning, from 10:20-11:40 following presentations by three supply risk experts: Jim Lawton (D&B), Jim Kelly (JVKG) and Joe Jackson (PSEG). The topic of this talk is "The Successful Implementation of a Supplier Risk Mitigation Solution." Both of these sessions promise to be quite deep and instructive (I know, I've either other co-written or read through the presentations for both). But if you're looking for something that's certainly higher level and absolutely more fun, you can join me for a freestyle SAP Micro Forum that's taking place on Tuesday afternoon at Sapphire.

I've not planned a presentation, but these are the topics that I plan to talk about and facilitate a discussion on:

  • Global economy and economic awareness in procurement (from Purchasing to The Economist)
  • Commodities, commodities, commodities -- and technology implications
  • Flexible workforce -- not just VMS, contingent labor, and complex categories -- but in the procurement workforce as well
  • Supplier management, supplier development and supply risk management is a top area of focus -- finally
  • The art of sourcing evolves and negotiation takes a back seat
  • Tomorrow's source-to-pay innovations that are just starting to appear today

It will definitely be a packed few days. If you're at either event, please drop us a line (jbusch (at) azulpartners (dot) com) or (tkase (at) azulpartners (dot) com). I'll also be attending and speaking at Beeline's 2011 Customer Conference the following week, an event that happens to be in Orlando as well. And following that, I'll be presenting at BravoSolution's Customer Event in Chicago at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night, just as the event is kicking off (right before we get to watch our Cubbies lose another game ...)
