Much has been written about the Dodd-Frank, Section 1502, Conflict Minerals Requirement – an SEC regulation of direct concern to publicly traded companies listed on US exchanges and their immediate suppliers – but not as much about how to actually comply with it. The regulated materials are tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (commonly referred to as 3T/G) that are sourced from mines under the control of violent forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or the surrounding countries.
