Apple Supplier Accused of Labor Violations, Canadian Retailer Buys Saks, Back-to-School Spending Down

A labor rights organization accuses Apple, Inc. of workers’ rights violations in factories run by Pegatron, to whom Apple recently shifted some iPhone assembly.

Saks is bought out for nearly $3 billion by Canadian retailer Hudson’s Bay Company, which also owns Lord & Taylor.

Parents are spending less on back-to-school shopping, according to Deloitte’s annual survey.

Amazon announces plans to hire 7,000 workers, boosting the staff of its fulfillment centers by 25%.
