EU Approves US Airways, American Merger, Scientists Create Lab-Grown Burger, Japan’s “Ghibli” Curse

US Airways and American Airlines are granted EU approval to proceed with their $11 billion merger after agreeing to surrender slots at Heathrow and Philadelphia airports.

Scientists have created the world’s first lab-grown burger.

Amazon is facing strikes at warehouses in Germany, its second-largest market, as a result of bringing along “American-style” labor practices such as opposition to unions.

It’s the “Ghibli curse.” Japan’s stock and currency traders know to expect the worst when a Studio Ghibli film is shown at the same time that nonfarm payroll data is released in the U.S.
