US Consumer Spending Up, Russia’s Unusual Stimulus Plan, China’s Urbanization Efforts Leading to Ghost Cities

U.S. consumers may think they are spending less, but according to research from consumer intelligence firm Mintel, they are spending more this year across every consumer category.

A number of Russia’s imprisoned businessmen may soon be freed in hopes that the amnesty will help stimulate the country’s stagnating economy.

China’s urbanization efforts have thus far led to ghost cities where there are few jobs and consequently few incentives for people to move there.
