Beanie Babies Creator Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion, Penn State Suspends “Noncompliance Fee”

Ty Warner, the creator of Beanie Babies stuffed toys, will plead guilty to tax evasion, paying a $53.5 million penalty.

After vocal opposition from faculty members, Pennsylvania State University has decided to suspend the $100 monthly noncompliance fee for employees who do not fill out an online health management questionnaire that asks for intimate details about jobs, martial situations, and finances.
